Some 107 people have contracted the measles thus far in 2018 according to the CDC

107 people were reported to have measles from January 1 to July 14.

Health services have collapsed in the neighbouring country amid economic and political turmoil, and Venezuelan officials have been dealing with a measles outbreak since previous year.

According to the CDC, in 2017, 118 people from 15 states and the District of Columbia were reported to have measles. In 2015, 188 people contracted measles. Those cases were the result of exposure outside of the country.

The CDC says measles are still common in many parts of the world, including certain countries in Europe, Asia, the Pacific and Africa.

Health officials are continuing to monitor a measles outbreak impacting 21 states, including MI.
