Days after his news conference, Urban Meyer finally apologizes to Courtney Smith

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer issued an apology Friday for the statement he made Wednesday after the university announced his suspension. I once against apologize for this, and I extend my empathy to all women, men and families who are affected by relationship violence.

The head coach in his Friday statement said from an early age, he was taught it was unacceptable to "hit a woman" and if he did, he'd get "kicked out of the house and never welcomed back".

Urban Meyer finally has apologized to Courtney Smith.

"Well, I have a message for everyone involved in this".

At the time, he did not address Courtney Smith by name, nor did he mention the allegations of domestic violence.

Zach Smith's attorney said in a statement Wednesday that Meyer and athletic director Gene Smith were "collateral damage" from Courtney Smith's desire to hurt her ex-husband. "There were red flags (with Zach Smith)".

Meyer said Friday that his words and demeanor at that news conference "did not show how seriously I take relationship violence".

SEC says no to nine Bitcoin ETFs for failing to meet requirements
Securities and Exchange Commission once again rejected a number of proposals for bitcoin exchange-traded funds on Wednesday. In her tweets , Commissioner Peirce stated that it was not the SEC commissioners who actually denied the ETF proposals.

Meyer, who is one of the most decorated coaches in college football, and Ohio State, were criticized for their response.

"Over the years, we have worked hard to educate and remind our coaches and players of the seriousness of relationship violence", he said.

Meyer, athletic director Gene Smith and university president Michael Drake fielded 20 minutes of questions from reporters Wednesday night at the conclusion of a almost 12-hour deliberation that ended with Meyer's suspensions. Ohio State released the 23-page report a few minutes before Wednesday night's press conference, carefully orchestrating things so the assembled media wouldn't be able to read it before asking questions.

"I sincerely apologize", he added.

Zach Smith was arrested after he allegedly abused Courtney Smith in 2009 while working as a graduate assistant under Meyer at Florida. "If I had known more, I would have taken action much quicker". Zach Smith was sacked last month after she asked a judge for a protective order. Gene Smith was suspended for two weeks for his handling of the situation.

Courtney Smith has not responded to questions about how she viewed Meyer's comments. The university then launched an investigation into Meyer's conduct.
