A celebrity cosmetic surgeon known as Dr Bumbum has been charged with murdering one of his patients in a procedure at his home in Rio de Janeiro.

He used a far larger dose of a chemical than advisable during the procedure, the charge sheet said.

The medic, whose real name is Dr Denis Furtado, performed a buttock-enlarging operation on Lilian Calixto, helped by his mother.

Dozens of deaths among women in Latin America have been put down to the use of synthetic polymers such as the one Dr Furtado is alleged to have used.

Moreover, he was allegedly not registered to practice medicine in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Mother-of-two Ms Calixto fell ill during the operation at the property in Rio de Janeiro last month and died in hospital a few hours later.

Ms Calixto reportedly arrived at the hospital with an abnormally fast heart rate after having silicone injected into each buttock, before her death.

After all, a hacker would still have required Terpin's username and password to access a secure cryptocurrency wallet. Terpin claims that after the initial breach, he was promised "the highest level of security for his account".

This created a "prohibited risk", elevated by the fact that the "invasive procedure" was carried out in an Furtado's apartment which was "provisionally and precariously adapted to attend patients", the statement said, "assuming the risk of the result of his conduct, that is, the death of the victim".

The Brazilian Plastic Surgery Society has warned against using PMMA for any aesthetic purposes.

Furtado's mother Maria de Fatima Barros Furtado is also facing charges after she allegedly continued to practice and operate with her son after her medical license was taken away.

The case generated headlines in Brazil and in July police tweeted a photo of Furtado and his mother, Maria Fátima Barros, in custody, after arresting them while Furtado posted Instagram videos proclaiming his innocence.

Furtado's lawyer, Naiara Baldanza, said at a news conference in Brasilia on Wednesday that her client was innocent and had not turned himself in to police because he was in a panic.

His girlfriend, Renata Fernandes, has already been arrested on suspicion of taking part in the procedure.

The 45-year-old has appeared on Brazilian television and had almost 650,000 followers on his Instagram account. It is believed that Ms Calixto had booked in for this treatment.
