NBA trade news Kawhi Leonard joined the Toronto Raptors last month

Kawhi Leonard has been silent since being acquired by the Raptors from San Antonio as part a trade for DeMar DeRozan and isn't expected to address Toronto media until training camp in September.

That's why, if his new San Antonio Spurs teammate Rudy Gay is to be believed, the Raptors' franchise scoring leader should be excited about going to his new team.

Leonard also utilized the "caps lock" feature to thank Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, who appeared to take a few veiled shots at the 27-year-old during the playoffs for not being with the team as he rehabbed a quad injury.

Leonard was effusive in his praise of the Spurs' fans, who watched him blossom into one of the game's premier two-way players over the first seven seasons of his career. Leonard wrote in a letter to the San Antonio Express-News on Thursday.

Dez to Browns GM: 'I'm coming ... to see you'
As for Bryant, the veteran emerged after Dorsey's comments to tweet: "I'm going to play. just whenever I get ready". It's unclear how long Bryant needs, but it wants to make it clear that he's not against playing in Cleveland.

THANK YOU to the fans!

"Through all the ups and downs - I'm glad there were many more ups! While I am looking forward to the next chapter in my career, I'll always remember the city and the people of San Antonio". "I'll never forget what we have shared and accomplished together", Leonard wrote.

During his six seasons in San Antonio, Leonard was a two-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to winning an NBA championship and NBA Finals MVP in 2014. Leonard, who missed almost all of the 2017 season with the Spurs with a mysterious quad injury that plagued him throughout the year, was reportedly asking to be traded by the Spurs behind closed doors. Multiple reports indicated that Popovich and Leonard met in June but were apparently unable to fix the relationship between the club and the two-time defensive player of the year.
