Maryland strength and conditioning coach resigns after football player death
Evans announced that the university had parted ways with strength and conditioning coach Rick Court in connection with their investigation. Evans added that a decision on the status of head coach DJ Durkin, who is on administrative leave, will come "as additional information comes forward".
McNair, an offensive lineman, collapsed during a team workout on May 29 and died in hospital on June 13. "Walters found that the emergency response plan was not appropriately followed" and that McNair's symptoms "were not properly identified or treated".
"We have learned Jordan did not receive appropriate medical care and mistakes were made by athletic training personnel", Evans said Tuesday.

The Baltimore Sun reported Monday that medical experts say McNair's health could have hinged on Maryland's adherence to medical guidelines for treating heatstroke, including cold-water immersion - a practice which doctors said likely saved former Towson football player Gavin Class' life after he was stricken during a practice in 2013.
Athletic director Damon Evans and university President Wallace Loh met with the parents of 19-year-old McNair this morning. Then Loh and Evans announced the formation of a national commission looking into the Terps football team's culture. It includes Benson Everett Legg and Alex Williams Jr., two retired U.S. District Judges for the U.S. District Court for Maryland, and Charles Scheeler, who served as Penn State's monitor following its sexual abuse scandal and as the lead counsel to George Mitchell in the steroid-era "Mitchell Report" in baseball. Canada was named Durkin's offensive coordinator this season after being fired from the same position at LSU. It is separate from the investigation into McNair's death, which will be concluded around mid-September.
"Based upon what we know at this time, even though the final report is not completed, I said to the family, 'The university owes you an apology". Three others, including Court, were placed on leave the day before. School officials did not describe the terms of Court's departure from the university. UCF fought the family in court for nearly 10 years to try to reduce the damages to $200,000.
