A Supergirl movie is now in the works at Warner Bros, Deadline has reported.

Supergirl will soar again on the big screen. Melissa Benoist now stars as Kara on the CW TV series Supergirl, and the new film is expected to be separate from the show. However, it is still uncertain if the plan is to introduce the new Supergirl in a solo movie and have her join Superman in a later movie or to simply launch an introductory Supergirl solo movie that immediately brandishes a team-up with Cavill's Superman.

Director James Wan's Aquaman will be in theaters worldwide on December 21, and Shazam, starring Zachary Levi, debuts on April 5, 2019 in the U.S. and UK.

According to Variety, the film's script will be handled by 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel, though a producer has not yet been secured. Supergirl adopted the secret identity of orphan Linda Lee and made Midvale Orphanage her home. (Disclosure: The CW is a joint venture between Warner Bros. and CBS, parent company of CNET.) In the upcoming season 4, which premieres October 14., she battles superpowered enemies and deals with her own Russian doppelganger. When the town is doomed, Kara is sent to Earth by her parents to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, known as Superman.

That move was in response to the Trump administration's proposal of a 25-percent tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports. June 19: Trump threatened to put 10 percent tariffs on an additional $200 billion of Chinese goods.

Another female-led superhero might be just what DC needs, given the critical success of Wonder Woman contrasted against the common criticisms of its other films.

Supergirl also gets to fight alongside Superman in The CW live-action TV series.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are in the early stages of a "Supergirl" film. The world could use a great Supergirl movie. Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.
