Two mystery punters won $50M Powerball jackpot - have you checked your ticket?

It's now been revealed the other winning division one ticket was purchased from a licensed lottery outlet in the Canterbury-Bankstown region of southern Sydney and the owner might still be oblivious.

Meanwhile, the other victor, from southern Sydney, is yet to learn of their new multimillion-dollar status.

The winning New South Wales ticket was bought somewhere in Sydney but was unregistered so officials haven't been able to contact them yet.

As desperate punters rushed to find out whether they would win the cash last night, the Oz Lotteries website crashed.

"Players can check their entry at any outlet, online at thelott.com or on the Lott app", Lott spokesman Matt Hart said.

Last Thursday the prize pool soared to $80 million following seven weeks where no entry contained the winning figures along with the Powerball number in a single game.

Nearly 3.5 million other players collected a return ranging from a division two prize of $122,000 down to ninth division's $10.55.

Salih Khater, a United Kingdom national of Sudanese origin and from the Birmingham area, was arrested at the scene in London by armed officers.

Meanwhile, the search is still on for a victor in Sydney who has not yet come forward to claim their $50 million.

The Victorian winner wasn't even watching his winning numbers being called out.

The ticket was unregistered, meaning Lott officials have no way of knowing who the mystery victor is or contacting them.

This $22.3 million Powerball prize is the largest ever won on MyLotto and the largest prize won so far this year. "I thought that would be pretty sweet, so I bought a ticket through the Lotto NZ App and didn't think any more of it", said the victor.

Newsagents across the nation had queues out the door on Thursday despite the odds of winning first prize being one in 134 million.

The next chance to win big will be the $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw on September 1.
