POCO India, through its Twitter account, has announced that it will be launching the POCO F1 in India on August 22.

The POCO F1, which is the first phone from Xiaom's sub-brand POCO, or POCOPHONE will officially be revealed on August 22. Poco is a new sub-brand from Xiaomi that is aimed at India's growing premium smartphone market, now dominated by the likes of OnePlus and Samsung. Poco is the new sub-brand form the Chinese smartphone maker and its first phone is Poco F1, that has also been leaked several times before. Get ready for break-neck speed.

While POCO claims to have the freedom to start anything from scratch, it still runs on Xiaomi's MIUI 9 out of the box. Do make sure you visit MySmartPrice on August 22 as we will be bringing you live updates from the launch event in New Delhi.

Xiaomi isn't the only smartphone manager to deliver high-end products at a relatively low price, HMD Global, Huawei's Honor Sub Brand and OnePlus among others have been working on delivering powerful handsets for reasonable prices.

A Poco F1 was shortly available on Romanian site OLX, a local eBay competitor.

- The Poco F1, according the the hands-on video, will have a design reminiscent of the Mi 8 which invariably means that it would have an iPhone X-like design.

"POCO is all about making a powerful smartphone with the technologies that truly matter", POCO's PM Jai Maini said on Twitter last week.

The FCC approved the POCOPHONE brand back in July and the listing revealed that the phone will be packing a 6.4-inch screen with reduced bezels, meaning a lot of screen real estate in return.

In terms of optics, the POCO F1 will be offering 12MP + 5MP dual cameras on the rear and a single 20MP selfie camera on the front.

The camera will also have AI capabilities and hopefully, a Portrait Mode might become a part of the software, just like what came with the Mi 8. The phone is expected to be available in multiple variants 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. The device will house a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
