Brett Kavanaugh: Senate Judiciary Committee Vote on Supreme Court Nomination

President Trump is one huge step closer to getting his guy, Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court - the Senate Judiciary Committee just voted 11-10 to recommend he be confirmed.

Still, even many Republicans who believed Ford was honestly recounting what happened to her took the view that it was a case of mistaken identity, believing Kavanaugh's emotional testimony that was not there and did not attack her.

White House officials also told TIME that they thought Kavanaugh's performance was "nothing short of spectacular" and would convince Republican senators to vote for him.

A month ago, an ABA committee had said unanimously that Kavanaugh was "well qualified" for the Supreme Court, its highest possible designation.

The Republican Party posted online videos of women supporting Kavanaugh throughout Ford's testimony. Kavanaugh forcefully denied the accusations and accused Democrats of a "calculated and orchestrated political hit". Senate Flake said Kavanaugh was entitled to the "presumption of innocence. absent corroborating evidence".

Thursday evening, the ABA urged the Judiciary Committee to proceed with a confirmation vote "only after an appropriate background check into the allegations made by Professor Ford and others is completed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation". Later, she said her certainty was "100 percent".

"I believed he was going to rape me", she said in her opening statement.

Democrats lauded Ford's testimony as credible, fearless and, in the words of Sen.

"Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter".

One viewer saw the hearing as an attack on a successful white man. However, she was discouraged by local detectives, she said.

Kavanaugh admitted a love for drinking beer, but he also pointed to what he says were his outstanding academic record and dedication to high school sports and church.

The president of Georgetown Prep, the Rev. James R. Van Dyke, has said the controversy over Ford's accusations has compelled the school to "evaluate our school culture" and redouble efforts to help students develop a healthy understanding of masculinity.

CC Sabathia gets ejected on goal pitch, loses bonus
Sabathia needed to complete seven innings Thursday to earn a $500,000 contract bonus by reaching 155 innings this season. NY went on to score four runs in the inning, including home runs by Luke Voit and Giancarlo Stanton.

She said she feared the personal consequences would be akin to "jumping in front of a train". Jon Tester - both announced they would oppose Kavanaugh.

Later, she told Senator Dick Durbin that her certainty was "100%".

Moments before the panel convened, Arizona Sen.

"I really felt like I was in her shoes", she said of Ford.

"She didn't seem in it for gain", said Pierman, who lives in the suburbs of Cleveland.

But under the committee's procedures, the career prosecutor was limited to five minutes at a time, interspersed between Democrats' questions, creating a choppy effect as she tried piecing together the story.

The vote was initially scheduled for earlier, and after Democrats failed to force Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, to call additional witnesses to testify, some Democratic members on the committee walked out of the hearing.

Ms Feinstein criticised Republicans who have rejected Democratic demands to slow Mr Kavanaugh's confirmation process and let the FBI investigate all the allegations, saying: "What I don't understand is the rush to judgment". "This is why women keep their sexual assaults to themselves".

Mr Grassley complained that lawyers for other accusers have not provided information to his panel, and said: "The committee can't do an investigation if attorneys are stonewalling".

If the committee votes to advance his nomination, the first procedural floor vote is set to take place Saturday.

On his message for young men, Mr Trump said: "It's a very unsafe period in our country, and it's being perpetrated by some very evil people".
