Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh listens during his conformation hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee

Yesterday Chairman Grassley, head of the committee that oversees the confirmation process, announced that a quickie hearing would be held Monday with only two witnesses: Professor Ford and Judge Kavanaugh.

"Most people don't want to testify publicly". Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., the ranking member (R), speaks during a Senate Judiciary Committee markup meeting on Capitol Hill, Sept. 13, 2018, in Washington. "Brett Kavanaugh and I were friends in high school but I do not recall the party described in Dr. Ford's letter", Judge said. "She is now being given an opportunity to come before the Senate Judiciary Committee to answer questions, and I really hope that she doesn't pass up that opportunity". "We are working diligently to get to the bottom of these claims".

Republican Senator Susan Collins, considered a key potential swing vote, tweeted that both should testify under oath. Citing "a person close to" Ford who also wishes to remain anonymous, they report that the harassment has been so severe she has had to move herself and her children out of their home, and is arranging for "private security".

MSNBC on Tuesday aired footage of Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh joking about his teenage years at Georgetown Prep.

"Nothing of substance and nothing legitimate can happen by Monday", Lisa Banks, an attorney for Ford, told CNN. "He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing".

And, it’s important to account for the time and effort spent by administrative staff handling these denied claims. They also have the potential to adversely affect patients’ opinions about the organization.

"While Dr Ford's life was being turned upside down, you and your staff scheduled a public hearing for her to testify at the same table as Judge Kavanaugh in front of two dozen U.S. senators on national television to relive this traumatic and harrowing incident", the letter reads.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegations.

"It's impossible to miss the parallels between the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing of 2018 and the 1991 confirmation hearing for Justice Clarence Thomas, " wrote Hill, who famously accused Thomas, among other things, of picking up a soda can when they worked together and asking, "Who has put pubic hair on my Coke?"

Sen. Jeff Flake, another Republican on the committee, went further, saying he would not vote to approve Kavanaugh without first hearing from Ford.

However, as Kavanaugh-who already was deeply unpopular before Ford's allegations were made public-hasn't given any indication that he will stop seeking a lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court, other advocacy groups and Democratic lawmakers are calling for a delay of any confirmation vote until the Federal Bureau of Investigation can fully investigate Ford's claims.
