However, after a wave of layoffs at the start of 2018, Capcom told GamesIndustry that Capcom Vancouver was transitioning to support the mobile game Puzzle Fighter, which was itself shut down this April. It's most notably responsible for "Dead Rising" and the free-to-play game "Puzzle Fighter".

"Capcom is now reviewing the allocation of its development resources that support the production of world-class content", the company said in an official statement.

Industry giant Capcom has announced the termination of all projects now underway at Capcom Vancouver - the division responsible for titles such as Dead Rising and Puzzle Fighter - in a move that is set to record huge losses for the Japanese developer/publisher. The closure comes on the heels of a press release confirming that the studio's ongoing projects have been terminated.

Roughly 158 employees will be affected by the studio's closure, notes Variety. "A skeleton crew will remain until January 2019 to finalize closure operations and logistics".

Company spokesperson Alicia Kim says multiple game titles have been cancelled, but Capcom still owns the Dead Rising brand. Dead Rising is an "open world survival horror" featuring zombies and other monsters as well as unique weapons and plot lines.

Unfortunately, the studio's next two games, Dead Rising 3 and 4, were nowhere near as successful, with 2016's Dead Rising 4 underperforming both financially and critically. "No new titles have been announced".
