Glover appeared in the audience as Teddy Perkins, a character he portrayed in the second season of his hit show "Atlanta".

Minutes later, Glover reappeared as his normal self (or maybe Perkins was just a stand-in for him.) A rep for Glover was not immediately available for comment. FX hit show, Atlanta, which is created & starred in by Donald Glover, was up for "Lead Actor in a Comedy Series", but unfortunately Donald didn't win. Perkins is a reclusive pop star alongside his brother, Benny Hope, and is "a character bluntly based on Michael Jackson". Some people watching assumed it was Glover, while others theorized it was actually fellow "Atlanta" actor Lakeith Stanfield. It's still unknown who it is dressed as Teddy Perkins while at the Emmy's, but it's a very Gambino move to say the least.

Muddy river waters swamped entire communities and the coastal city of Wilmington, North Carolina, was cut off by the flood waters. Residents hunkered down in their apartments, and streets in the usually buzzing city were deserted Sunday.

"Atlanta" fans pointed out Perkins" appearance early on in the show, where Glover was sitting in the front row, as he is nominated for five awards this year. The powerful video for the politically charged song became a viral sensation.
