Donald Trump Slams CNN And NBC, Urges "Look At Their License" Tweet

He said it was NBC, not him, who urged him to take his story to the New Yorker.

This is not the first time Mr. Trump has called for NBC's broadcast license to be revoked.

Farrow responded on Twitter disputing several key points in Lack's memo: "Executives there have now produced a memo that contains numerous false or misleading statements, so I'll say briefly: their list of sources is incomplete and omits women who were either identified in the NBC story or offered to be".

News chairman Andy Lack sent a lengthy email to staff members Monday evening outlining last summer's decision to pass on Farrow's reporting.

Trump joined the chorus of critics of NBC News over its handling of Farrow's investigative report into sexual assault allegations against now-disgraced film mogul Weinstein. Although there wasn't a specific reference to the FCC, the implication was plain: Trump was suggesting federal regulators review their licensing of a major networks because of his complaints about its news division. He shared a Pulitzer Prize with the New York Times for their stories on Weinstein, which ignited the #metoo movement. That memo from NBC News chief Andrew Lack came in response to criticism last week from Farrow's former NBC News producer, Rich McHugh, that NBC sought to impede Farrow's reporting.

In his statement, Lack said he wondered "whether the courageous women who spoke to him in print would have also sat before TV cameras and lights".

Kavanaugh has argued that presidents should be free from civil lawsuits, criminal prosecution and investigations while in office. After the hearing this week, lawmakers will vote on whether to approve Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court .

Lack said the Peacock Network and Farrow disagreed on whether he had a story ready to air. (Rose McGowan - the only woman Farrow interviewed who was willing to be identified - had refused to name Weinstein and then her lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter).

Nestor said that "the condescension dripping from this phrase is despicable".

The unusually vitriolic argument between NBC and a former reporter isn't likely to go away soon; Farrow is writing a book about his experiences working on the story.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at campaign fundraising luncheon for Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) and GOP congressional candidate Mark Harris at Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, NC, U.S., August 31, 2018.

The agency has said the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution "expressly prohibits the commission from censoring broadcast matter" and that its role "in overseeing program content is very limited".

"If some believe that decision a failure of our competitive instincts, so be it", Lack said. That account clashes with Lack's memo, which asserted that no women had agreed to go on the record, leading NBC to decide against moving forward with the story. "But it was a decision taken honourably and with good intentions toward Farrow and his work".
