In an emotional and very necessary 10-minute clip, Dwyane Wade announced his intent to return to play for his 16th and final National Basketball Association season with the Miami Heat.

He spent months weighing up his options and only days ago admitted he was still undecided about his future.

Wade is expected to sign a $2.4m (£1.84m) deal for the 2018-19 season later this week.

"But it's one of the best decisions that I've had to make", said Wade on a YouTube video posted on his channel. "I've gotten here because I've done things because the way that I feel that is right for me, that is right for my family". I feel it's right to ask you guys to join me for one last dance, for one last season. And I am going to give one last season everything I have left. One last season. This is it. He started the 2017-18 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded back to Miami for the final 21 games of the season. "Is it selfish for me to want to continue to be away from my family?"

Corporate executives increasingly believe the trade dispute can only be resolved by direct talks between Trump and Xi. But Trump has signaled that he thinks only the threat of real economic pain will push Beijing to make major changes.

Wade spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Heat, winning three championships. Had the team signed Wade to that mid-level exception, the Heat would have actually paid out $14.2 million, with the remaining money going further over the salary cap.

Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade (3) is seen during an NBA basketball game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Wade averaged 16.6 points per game in that series.

The plan going into this season will be to keep Wade in a reserve role, like last season.

From there, it simply became a matter of Wade making up his mind. "Let's have some joy through this last season. Let's enjoy it. Let's push this young team over the hump and write our own story to the end of this career together".
