Honor Magic 2 teased: Kirin 980 SoC, retractable selfie camera and more

Well, Huawei Honor didn't arrange a dedicated launch event for Honor Magic 2 but thanks to the courtesy of George Zhao, president at Honor, here are few key features that were revealed during the event.

Pairing its advanced gaming functionality with an AI-assisted camera, massive 6.3 inch FullView FHD+ screen and superior battery life, the Honor Play is set to be the leader in mobile gaming.

The phone comes in different variants; you'll have a choice of Midnight Black, Navy Blue, Ultra Violet, or special black/red (à la Asus ROG) and red Player Edition.

The first markets to get the Honor Play are Western Europe, CEE and Nordic countries, the Middle East, Russia, India, and the Asia Pacific region. Since the front of the device is all screen, Honor had to introduce a slider design to the phone, which will reveal the phone's front-facing camera.

Climate change projected to boost insect activity and crop loss, researchers say
Comparably, in tropical regions the temperatures are already close to optimum for insects, which insulates crops to some degree. The researchers observed different loss rates due to the crops' different growing regions, Deutsch said.

Apart from sporting Huawei's latest chipset, the Magic 2 will also support 40W fast charge which Honor has dubbed Magic Charge. Of course, we will have to check out the GPU Turbo and other features a bit closer to see if the Honor Play is living up to its claims, but a Kirin 970-powered smartphone for €329 isn't too bad. According to rumours, the Kirin 980 will be the first smartphone-centric SoC, which will be based on the 7nm manufacturing process. It's also expected to feature in the new Huawei Mate device slated for launch in October. According to the introduction, the Honor Magic 2 is now the most powerful Honor/Huawei smartphone. It has multiple layers of safety, with the handset identifying the battery, cable and charger and only when all three are safe will it start charging.

The Honor Magic was released by Huawei's sub-brand back in 2016.

Furthermore, Honor also shared a short video which hints at the Magic 2 flaunting a bezel-less design.
