Jose Mourinho Addresses Falling Out With Paul Pogba

Mourinho insists his relationship with Pogba remains good, despite stripping the World Cup victor of his vice-captaincy role recently.

Mourinho was involved in a bust-up with Paul Pogba on Wednesday at training ground, after the Portuguese manager questioned the France worldwide why he posted a picture depicting he was celebrating over Manchester United's home defeat against Derby County, hours after the Red Devil's elimination from Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Taking the opportunity to respond to all the gossip at his press conference ahead of United's trip to the London Stadium on Saturday, Mourinho underlined his stance on the matter.

"Manchester United is bigger than anyone and I have to defend that", Mourinho said.

"I always analyse a player as a player when a player is captain, I analyse the player by the player and captain perspective, and after weeks of analysing and changing opinions with my coaching staff, we made the decision Paul is just a a player and not a captain".

Asked about his decision to strip Pogba of his captaincy role, Mourinho added: "I explained in detail to the people that have to know, which is the squad and especially Paul".

Nintendo also claimed that MariCar was using Nintendo costumes for publicity and sales without the publisher's permission.

"Paul told you in one of his appearances in the famous mixed zone and it's exactly it, he's correct, it's a good player-manager relationship", Mourinho told reporters. "It is not any more a relationship between captain - or one of the captains - and manager", Mourinho said. Some trained as well as him but nobody trained better than him and tomorrow he plays. No player is bigger than the club and if I'm happy with his work, he plays and if I'm not happy with his work he doesn't play. I am happy with his work this week, really happy.

I am really happy with his work this week. The team needs good players, he is good. He is a good player.

"I don't care about the cameras", the United manager said.

"What confrontation? It was not a confrontation". What confrontation? You think it was a confrontation?

Unsurprisingly, he took another opportunity to hit back over the training ground footage and the creation of a story over something he claims happens every day with every player, insisting the media will never be allowed in to watch a full session.

Having played out a goalless draw in their last league meeting here, even odds (2.00) look generous on no more than two goals being scored this time out given Manchester United's struggles.
