Klopp bemused by Neville's Champions League advice

Neville this week said the Reds' best chance of ending a 29-year wait to be English champions would be enhanced if they "kicked into touch" their European ambitions.

However, the fixtures are set to come thick and fast from now on, starting with a trip to Wembley for their Premier League clash against Tottenham before they open their Champions League account against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield next week. "We have to do that, we have to rotate - [but] I don't know if we'd call it "rotation". Klopp told a news conference.

"Pochettino came in at Tottenham and he had a better squad, but this has been a vision for Klopp and I don't think his squad was anywhere near as good as what Pochettino inherited at Spurs". How do you prepare for a game when you don't focus on it?

"If you want to win Premier League titles then you have to win these games, so Liverpool will be judged on this too". That would be amusing!

"I know the situation is not like people expected". We don't play CL or what?

"If you watch the Watford game again, you see we played so slow, so sloppy, from the beginning".

"That's what we try". I don't understand, do we play our kids or what?To focus on one competition can only be if you are out, or almost out, or if it's late in the season.

Florence weakens to Category 2 hurricane but still life-threatening: NHC
Across several eastern states, residents scrambled to leave as the Category 4 storm , with winds of 225kmh, approached. However, he reiterated that just that minor factor alone is not enough to cause the cyclone to make major changes.

"Last year, for example, we had no chance to focus on one competition because we had to qualify for the Champions League and I don't think that even Gary Neville would have said: "Quarter-finals of the Champions League, let City win".

"It doesn't work like this. But it's an opinion".

Jurgen Klopp is bullish about Liverpool's chances as they prepare to take on Tottenham at Wembley, after a busy global break for his squad.

"Of course we have to [rotate]". They are different in the way that they play and how they act on the pitch. We have to do that, to rotate. On Saturday, the Liverpool boss will be without three first-team players, with Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana still working their way back to peak fitness, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will play no part this season due to a long-term knee injury. The others all had at least three weeks. They were the most stable players in the squad.

"But the plan was, and is still, that he will make us better".

"It was a kind of a wake-up call, to be honest", Klopp said. "But it was more a wake-up for the players, that we can not do it like this".

"I think Tottenham should have probably have signed more players in the summer". Yes, we learned, the experience was that one game can be completely different to another.
