Maximum player count in Blackout beta increased to 100

Treyarch has been supporting the beta test for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode nearly daily, bringing new alternative ways to play, multiple gameplay tweaks and more to the Battle Royale experience.

On the plus side, the Black Ops 4 release date isn't too far off.

This player count change was announced early on September 17, and it has applied to all of the platforms that the beta is available on - Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It's only a two-hour extension, but those still playing will likely welcome the extra round or few of availability. Depending on the outcome, it could mean that Blackout will be pushed to 100 players maximum come launch. Developer Treyarch is extending the beta by two hours today (it's already over), and it's upping the total player count to 100 per match. It's gradually scaling up and testing what the servers can handle without sacrificing performance.

Alternatively, Treyarch and Activision could very well have planned for Blackout to feature a maximum of 100 players standard. Dealing with 100 players in a lobby will also be a first for Blackout, a mode that originally tested around 80 players before ramping up the player count throughout the beta and finally capping it at the standard for battle royale games. "We've heard your requests, bug reports, concerns, and encouragement during this process, and we'll be following up later today with a more comprehensive look at what you've told us and how we'll be addressing key topics for launch".

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on October 12 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
