Observatory on Federal Bureau of Investigation lockdown sparks claims of alien life

Since the evacuation, the story has spread to news outlets around the globe as conspiracy theorists and UFO enthusiasts speculate on message boards over the web with theories ranging from an alien coverup to antennae hacking.

However, the observatory does seem to recognize the interest its closure has sparked and hopes it will continue after it is reopened.

Residents who have been evacuated said they haven't gotten many answers either.

The individual named Paul wrote that for the first time in his experience of the area, there was no phone signal within 16 miles of the observatory. In an interview with local news, Sgt. Jon Emery of the Otero County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the FBI was investigating the security issue, but that they had "not contacted us".

Since last Thursday, FBI officials have closed the Sunspot Solar Observatory in a hurry after they received the order to investigate an undisclosed "security issue". "We're just as curious as anyone else", one guard told the Post.

"What their goal was nobody will say".

There are no visible signs of Federal Bureau of Investigation presence, however users online speculate that they are working inside the observatory. The online magazine Drive noted Friday that the observatory's site atop Sacramento Peak enjoys a wide and largely unobstructed view of the Holloman Air Force Base and the U.S. Army's White Sands Missile Range, both of which regularly host a very wide array of U.S. military research and development programs.

The team that operators the telescope at the observatory have confirmed there was no alien sighting.

Mr McAteer added that the government officials "locked all the doors" as they were leaving but he doesn't know why.

New Mexico State University professor and Sunspot Observatory director James McAteer commented on the rumors and denied any alien activity. All data will be made public in its unaltered form. "We have no information on it", said Sgt. Jon Emery of the Otero County Sheriff's Office. "Nothing is hidden or kept secret".
