This is the third time Dinklage has won the award, which means he has tied Aaron Paul's record for most wins in the category.

After eight seasons "Game of Thrones" is coming to an end, and Peter Dinklage, who stars as Tyrion Lannister in the hit series, is just as sad as fans to say goodbye. In a brief, yet touching acceptance speech, Dinklage gave a shout-out to Coster-Waldau, saying, "Thank you to my brother from another mother, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau".

In the category, Dinklage edged out Thrones castmate Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (whom he called "an unbelievable, handsome brother"); David Harbour of Stranger Things; Joseph Fiennes of The Handmaid's Tale; Mandy Patinkin for Homeland; and Matt Smith for The Crown.

Game of Thrones took home the award for "outstanding drama series" from the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards.

"Thank you, Erica, for putting up with me. I'm very temperamental and I love you very much".

"It was very sad", Dinklage told the publication while backstage at the Emmys. "This is not only a great TV show to be a part of but it was an enormous family to be a part of".

"I like to pretend I'm dead". Commenting on the last season of GOT, the X-Men actor said that the final season is the biggest thing they have done so far and he hopes it is worth the hard work and wait. "It's so handsome when other people end up feeling the same way you do".
