Roman Abramovich posed threat to public security, Swiss police said

Football club owner Roman Abramovich has denied allegations of money laundering and contact with criminal organisations

However, police raised a number of concerns after details of a review of Abramovich emerged.

"Any suggestion that Mr Abramovich has been involved in money laundering or has contacts with criminal organisations is entirely false".

Abramovich's lawyer, Daniel Glasl, has filed a request for correction of facts to the federal police. The ruling was overturned when the Swiss federal supreme court rejected Abramovich's appeal on Friday.

They also allege that Swiss police reported that Abramovich was "known for suspicion of money laundering" and that assets are "at least of illegal origin".

The TdG said that Switzerland's federal court gave it permission last week to publish the story, after a seven month legal battle with Abramovich's lawyers.

It also noted that Abramovich has no criminal record.

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has reportedly been denied residency in Switzerland over fears that he may pose a security and reputational risk due to alleged criminal links.

Rafale row: Government will fight perception battle, says Sitharaman
The government is in no mood to accept the Opposition's demand for a joint parliamentary committee to probe the Rafale deal. The French government defying the claims of the Former French president Fransico Hollande issued a statement on Saturday.

Bloomberg Businessweek claims that the Russian-Israeli businessman, who has been Chelsea owner since 2003, is considering the sale as he grows frustrated with his British visa problems and concerned about being targeted by the USA.

He reportedly withdrew an application to renew his United Kingdom visa over the summer after it came under scrutiny and was delayed. In May, the oligarch obtained Israeli citizenship under the country's law of return, which allows any Jewish person to become a citizen. Chelsea then put plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge on hold and denied reports that he was looking to sell the club.

The decision to cancel the stadium plans has led to speculation that Abramovich is ready to sell - but only, it is reported, the the highest price ever for a sports team.

Abramovich's British visa, which was granted before more rigorous regulations were instituted in April 2015, expired in April.

The US news organisation has stated that Abramovich has already rejected an offer of 2.3 billion dollars and has an expectation of 3 billion pounds (around 3.4 billion euros). However, the authorities at federal level appear to have taken a different view.

"Mr Abramovich has submitted to numerous thorough background checks by governments and business partners over the years, and such unsubstantiated allegations have never been at issue".

Abramovich withdrew his residency application in June a year ago when he was informed that it was due to be rejected.
