US National Security Adviser John Bolton give a press briefing in New York

Back home from New York, President Hassan Rouhani says Washington's attempts to advance an anti-Iran agenda at the United Nations only backfired, stressing that this year's General Assembly session and related events further exposed the US's isolation on the world stage.

Speaking about the headline-worthy moment, Trump told an assembly of journalists in NY on Wednesday that "They weren't laughing at me, they were laughing with me". Trump added, "So true". Before he left for the UNGA in NY, he said he hoped the "miracle" meeting would happen.

Maduro addressed the UN General Assembly Wednesday, where he rejected the narrative that his failing economy has created a humanitarian crisis.

Also at the Security Council meeting, Trump thanked Turkey for helping to broker a deal with Russian Federation earlier this month to create a demilitarized buffer zone by the middle of October in Idlib, the last stronghold of opposition in the country.

At the time Trump remarked "I didn't expect that reaction, but that's okay".

He argued that in the years since the Iran nuclear deal was signed, "Iran's aggression only increased". "This can not be continued", Rouhani told a news conference.

The $1.2 million limestone sculpture, which dates back to around 500 B.C., was handed back to Iran on the orders of a New York Supreme Court judge.

"The stock market is at an all-time high in history.African-American, Hispanic-American, and Asian-American unemployment have all achieved their lowest levels ever recorded", Trump said.

It'll be Trump's first experience in leading a session of the U.N.'s most powerful body, where the USA now holds the rotating presidency - a perch it is using to double down on its criticism of Iran.

"Permanent members of the UN Security Council must not attack and undermine the global nonproliferation regimes and the institutions that underpin them", Macron said.

But his calls for other countries to join US sanctions against Tehran were rejected by the other signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran - Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany. Trump has said the United States will issue another round of tougher sanctions in November aimed at crippling Iran's oil sales and banking sector.

He said Russian Federation was actively working with the European Union, China, and Iran to preserve the Iran nuclear deal.

"I'll be meeting with Chairman Kim", Trump told reporters arriving at the United Nation's General Assembly.

Maduro frequently accuses the United States of seeking to sabotage his administration by fomenting an economic crisis and stoking unrest.

President Donald Trump addresses the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, at U.N. headquarters, September 25, 2018.
