Pirro appeared to reference Trump's reticence to immediately replace Sessions, with Republicans and others citing likely political blowback for such a move.

There are many reasons to dislike Sessions, from his abject racism to his attacks on criminal justice reform to his complicity in the horrific family separation crisis at the border. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein then appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to conduct what's become a wide-ranging probe, including whether people around Trump conspired with the Russians and whether the president sought to obstruct justice.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions hosts a roundtable discussion with foreign liaison officers from the Joint Interagency Task Force-South (JIATF-S) at the Justice Department in Washington, U.S., August 29, 2018.

They want someone who'll also name a special counsel to aggressively prosecute Hillary Clinton for destroying her emails, or to fully investigate the political corruption we've learned thrived at the top of the Obama administration's Federal Bureau of Investigation and intelligence agencies.

Donald Trump confirmed to visit Ireland this November
He said in the Oval Office in March when he was visited by Mr Varadkar: 'I look forward to being there. Mr Trump will be following in the footsteps of past United States presidents when he visits Ireland .

So why hasn't Sessions resigned? "I wanted to stay out, but at some point if it doesn't straighten out properly. Trump has great support from the State of Alabama and dismissing Sessions would erode his support in the state". The apparent admission could feature in a potential obstruction of justice probe.

It wouldn't matter how innocent President Trump is of colluding.

He'd be severely hurt politically - as would the Republican Party in the midterm elections this fall. Overall, 75 percent of Democrats oppose Sessions' firing, while just 14 percent support Sessions' removal. "Yes, I think we can find that person after the election, if that's what the president wants".

Despite suffering 18 months of verbal abuse from his tough boss, Sessions just could still be one of President Trump's best friends.
