White workers at Sasol launch 'go-slow' ahead of Thursday strike

Solidarity is also planning to complain to United States regulators, as Sasol operates in North America, and the scheme excludes white staff and foreign nationals. "There are even businesses who said they will close so that they will be able to participate", says Hermann.

The Solidarity Union, which has 6,300 members at Sasol's South African operations, said the move by the firm is "blant discrimination".

"In this respect, we have activated contingency measures to minimise potential disruption to our operations". Hermann explained that the Solidarity members know "exactly where" the next shutdown will be and will withdraw their labour - skills and knowledge - needed for the process, effectively delaying the shutdown.

"We are not against the scheme, we just want it to be inclusive of all workers".

"This is a very sophisticated process that Sasol is busy with at the moment and we know exactly what to do ... it's kind of a clever strike", he said. It would replace a previous scheme called Izalo, which, according to Solidarity, was open to all races, whereas the new one was not.

Dave Bautista Might Not Return for 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3′
In fact, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was in pre-production when Gunn was sacked for tweeting offensive jokes a decade ago. Bautista took issue with Cernovich, who has "joked" about rape in the past, tweeting things like "Date rape does not exist".

"Currently‚ parts of our Secunda and Sasolburg operations are busy with planned maintenance shutdowns‚ and activities in this respect continue as scheduled". The objective to achieve 25 percent direct black ownership in Sasol South Africa was a step in the right direction and was in line with the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment legislation and should be supported.

"Nedlac refused to give permission, therefore Solidarity intends to go to court next week to take Nedlac's decision under review", he said.

In its first phase, all qualifying employees regardless of race would be included and be eligible for R100,000 worth of shares. These employees need to be permanently employed as at June 1, 2018.

The firm's shares were 1.4 per cent lower at 568.14 rand, with the market expecting the dispute to be resolved without affecting earnings. This would be available to more than 18,000 employees at Sasol, a third of which were white. Contributions of 200 words or more will be considered for publication.
