Angelique Kerber became the latest high-profile exit at the US Open

Madison Keys of the US reacts after beating Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia in a fourth round match on day eight of the 2018 U.S. Open tennis tournament at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Serbian Krunic had a terrible build-up to the tournament, winning just four games in three matches, but has hit form again in NY and played an excellent first set before Keys turned it around.

With the win, Keys improved to 5-0 lifetime against Cibulkova and becomes only the second woman, after Kerber, to reach the quarter-finals or better at three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Fourth seed Kerber, the 2016 US Open champion, followed the early exits of world No 1 Simona Halep and No 2 Caroline Wozniacki - the other two grand slam champions this season.

Madison Keys maintained her dominance over Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova with a 6-1 6-3 victory on Monday to reach the U.S. Open quarter-finals. Cibulkova was able to get on the board in the next game, though could do little to match the German throughout the set.

Two early breaks saw her race to a 3-0 lead, and though Kerber would get one of those lost breaks early on, she was powerless to prevent Cibulkova from breaking for a third time to level the scores at a set apiece.

Shopkeeper sticks plastic eyes on fish to make them look fresh
Instead of fooling anyone, the fishy plan achieved cult status on social media, with users turning it into a meme. A woman posted a video on Facebook on Friday of her washing the fish and removing the eye, which soon went viral.

"She was going for it, and she hit the balls really good and played the winners when she has to". I am just happy to be in the next round.

"There were too many unforced errors in the first set but I'm glad I settled down a bit and played much better". I wasn't aggressive enough in the first set and was too passive.

"The biggest thing is just being able to push her back off of the baseline where she likes to hold her ground and just be able to dictate points like that", Keys told reporters.

After taking the first set, Garcia was broken in the opening game of the second set and could not find a way back, before losing a tight third set on a tie-break.

Sabalenka will play Japan's Naomi Osaka, who crushed Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-0, 6-0.

Elsewhere, Dutch 13th seed Kiki Bertens was knocked out by Czech Marketa Vondrousova 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 7-6 (7-1).
