Apple Watch can now connect hip patients to doctors

"At Zimmer Biomet, we are committed to improving care decisions through digital health and we are thrilled to launch one of the largest evidence-gathering clinical studies in orthopaedic history". Also, patients who don't own on Apple Watch will be given one for the project.

The said app is known as Mymobility.

The Apple Watch's health features will keep track of the patient's heart rate and step count. The app guides patients before and after their surgeries to help them improve their health outcomes. The objective of the study is to understand how and why some patients who underwent the surgery recovery faster than others. Furthermore, the app has a messaging platform that enables patients to communicate with their physicians anytime.

The stats will be received by surgeons in four hospitals and over a dozen other medical facilities across Massachusetts, California, Colorado, and MI. The study is launching today and has the possibility to enroll as many as 10,000 patient participants in the United States. With this app, they will know whether or not their patients are following their regimes as prescribed before or after the surgery.

Red Dead Redemption 2 dev attempts to clarify '100-hour weeks' comment
Red Dead Redemption 2 is set at the dawn of the industrial age in a fictional reimagining of the Wild West. There seems to be some confusion arising from my interview with Harold Goldberg.

"This solution will connect consumers with their doctors continuously, before and after surgery", said Apple chief operating officer Jeff Williams in a statement.

Medical device company Zimmer Biomet and Apple are teaming up for a new app that will be combined with data tracked from the smartwatch to determine why some patients with knee and hip replacements recover faster than others.

How Can You Use the App?

. The app will only be available to them for now, for the duration of the study but the company is planning to release it to everyone in the near future.

Last year, Apple also partnered with Stanford Medicine in another study to find out how Apple Watch could be utilized in detecting irregular heartbeats. According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, at least 30 million people in the USA have some kind of eating disorder, and one hope is the new study reliant on Apple Watch could help researchers predict an episode of binge-eating before it happens. As part of that effort, Apple has gotten more comfortable talking to outside entities - everything from nonprofits to health care groups and developers - as it looks for new ways to do that. Apple is also working forward to spot signs of Parkinson's disease and signs of stroke using its ResearchKit platform that comes with Apple Watch. The firms will run a study that will use health-tracking information sourced from the Apple Watch. And in 2017, the FDA approved the initial EKG band for the Apple Watch. Citing the aging of the population, the figures representing the people getting knee and hip replacement surgeries is bound to increase.
