The new 2019 Ford Ranger will be built just outside Detroit at a plant that, until recently, made the Ford Focus compact sedan; it now is being switched over to produce the Ranger and another hotly anticipated arrival, the 2020 Bronco SUV.

Ford has invested $850 million in the factory, which dates to the late 1950s.

The factory is set to build two high-profile vehicles again in the Ranger and all-new Bronco as American appetite for pickups and SUVs continues to grow. Available options include Sync 3 infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; safety tech like precollision braking, lane-keep assist and blind-spot monitoring; and a cruise control-like feature called Trail Control for the FX4 Off-Road package. The 369-acre Michigan Assembly Plant first opened in 1957 and built station wagons, before building the Bronco from 1966 through 1996.

The new Ford Ranger will be a modern, high-tech midsize pickup.

"At the same time, we're revitalizing our Michigan Assembly Plant and securing good-paying jobs for our hourly employees here in the U.S".

Ford is in the midst of an $11-billion restructuring under CEO Jim Hackett.

Before the launching of full-scale production of the new Ford Ranger Raptor trial units, the Silverstone Assembly Plan has produced the first 10 official Ranger Raptor units. Some markets have become serious problems, mainly China, but in the U.S. the company's core pickup business remains solid - and is throwing off the cash that Hackett needs to reorganize the carmaker.

"We continue to invest in our local operations to meet growing demand for the Ranger, and are now introducing new equipment on the assembly line to improve the handling of the chassis turn-over, adding incremental buffers in the Trim, Chassis and Final line as well as new shipping conveyors in the Fitment Centre", Berry added. The Ranger has been out of production for a number of years as the midsize truck market exploded in America.

Michigan Assembly also build the iconic Bronco SUV.

. The plant in which the Ranger is being built received almost a billion USA dollars in upgrades and rework to prepare for the new truck's launch.
