Riyad Mahrez scored the game's only goal

Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez said Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was "like a dad to me" after dedicating his match-winning goal against Tottenham to the Leicester owner killed in Saturday's helicopter crash.

Mahrez's strike proved the difference as City proved victorious at Wembley Stadium.

Mahrez left the King Power Stadium after four successful years there in the summer, a period which included the club's improbable Premier League triumph of 2016.

Mahrez swept in the only goal after an impressive run from Raheem Sterling, who pounced on a defensive mistake from Kieran Trippier to latch onto the loose ball and then go round the Tottenham defender before reaching the byline. "The "Boss" was very special to me", Mahrez told Sky Sports. "It's not easy to have this type of stuff". I spent four and a half years there. I was very, very sad - that's why when I scored, I put my hands up for him.

"To be honest, it's been very, very hard for me", Mahrez told Sky's Geoff Shreeves. He did a lot for me and for Leicester.

"I always wanted to play".

For those who do not know but a fox is on the club's logo and the players of the club are nicknamed the Foxes.

"He knew the owner well", said Guardiola. He was very passionate about football and it was hard but I kept thinking about him. "It was hard to sleep as well". "He was part of them for many years", Guardiola said. "Sometimes playing games helps, not to forget, but to live it in a better way".

"He did really good, he was focused and did a great job".
