More Birds Are Getting Drunk This Year, MN Town Advises Residents

Police in a small northern Minnesota community have been taking some unusual calls about birds that seem to be intoxicated.

"On Tuesday, the department posted a notice on Facebook warning citizens that it has received several reports of birds that appear to be "'under the influence' flying into windows, cars and acting confused".

The intoxicated state of the birds is due to berries fermenting ahead of time due to an earlier than usual frost. "They're just careless and they're not looking for cars or other obstacles".

Writing under a Facebook post about the problem, one resident said: 'I was going to say something. but I thought I was insane!

"They just get sloppy and clumsy", Dodder said.

Ronaldo left out of Portugal's upcoming global matches
At this stage, it is unclear whether Ronaldo's latest ommision from the global squad is in any way related to these allegations. While other players might be winding down their careers at 33, Ronaldo is still in demand by leading clubs around the world.

The police department says there's no need to panic, the birds will eventually sober up.

If you think you're surrounded by boozed-up birds, the Audubon Society suggests putting decals on large windows and other reflective surfaces to prevent them from crashing.

"It appears that some birds are getting a little more "tipsy" than normal".

"This explains why I have hit 7 birds with my vehicle this week", reads another. Since the birds have not yet flown south for the winter, they are still around to feed on the fermented berries once they thaw, which causes them to actually become drunk.

"Generally, younger birds' livers can not handle the toxins as effectively as more mature birds", the police department writes. Some birds even slur their speech, errr... song, while inebriated.
