Trump crows over win in bitter Supreme Court battle

But there's reason to believe that the Kavanaugh fight has helped Republicans "nationalize" some key races in deep-red territory: In recent weeks, Kevin Cramer has taken a commanding lead over Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota (as the congressman has steadfastly supported Kavanaugh in needlessly misogynistic terms), while Republican congresswoman Marsha Blackburn has pulled ahead of former Democratic governor Phil Bredesen in Tennessee.

The all-male line-up on the Republican side drew attention during the confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh, who was accused of sexual misconduct in high school and college.

Facing the prospect of a tough midterm election that could sway control of the House, McConnell warned that Democrats will pay a political price if they win and then use their majority to dig into investigating Trump next year.

"The answer to your question is we will see if there's a vacancy in 2020", McConnell said.

Republicans had hoped to confirm Kavanaugh in time for him to join the court on October 1, the start of the new term.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of all voters are angry about the U.S. Senate's treatment of Kavanaugh, with 42% who are Very Angry.

The victory is a boon for Republicans who are looking to hold on to majorities in the house and Senate.

McConnell disagreed with President Donald Trump's prediction that she will "never recover" from her vote, demonstrating once again that as the leader of a supposed conservative Republican party, he is out of step with rank-and-file conservatives.

Fernando Alonso’s frustrations with F1 continue in unheard mid-race rant
Speaking to the media after the race, Alonso could not resist the opportunity to take another swipe at the championship.

Trump appeared to be in a good mood, fresh off the confirmation of Kavanaugh, but his lightheartedness turned darker when he spoke of Democrats and the stakes of the election. Lindsey Graham of SC - who has said the Senate would wait for the presidential election to take place before filling another opening on the bench. Under the guise of election security and fighting nonexistent voter fraud, Republicans across the country have crafted legislation that prevents people from voting if they aren't likely to vote Republican.

McConnell added that "this business of presidential harassment may or may not quite be the victor they think it is". "I speak up when I think it's necessary".

Kavanaugh sought to play down the political maelstrom that surrounded his confirmation, and said he would serve "one nation".

Trump has repeatedly said that putting conservatives on the court - Kavanaugh is his second appointment - was among the top goals of his presidency.

Then an extra Federal Bureau of Investigation probe - which media reports say was drastically curtailed by the White House - also found nothing new and Kavanaugh was finally voted into the coveted post.

Republicans' hopes in the upcoming USA midterm elections have been boosted by Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation as a Supreme Court justice. Republicans slammed Clinton for her statement, especially as it came after Republicans were "shot, stabbed, doxxed, beaten, mailed powder, run out of restaurants, and sent death threats", in the age of the Trump administration.

The Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh in a 50-48 vote on October 6, concluding a bitter confirmation battle with exactly one month left before the midterm election on November 6.
