Amazon HQ2 to be split evenly between two cities

Just when you thought the Amazon HQ2 sweepstakes couldn't get crazier, it did.

Amazon.com is downplaying a Washington Post report that the corporation is in advanced talks with Northern Virginia officials about locating its planned second headquarters there.

By splitting the second headquarters, Amazon's Seattle office would remain its largest concentration of employees and the center of gravity for the tech giant. Shortly after the Post published its story, Mike Grella, Amazon's economic development director posted on Twitter, "Memo to the genius leaking info about Crystal City, VA as #HQ2 selection. You're not doing Crystal City, VA any favors". He also warned: "And stop treating the NDA you signed like a used napkin".

Pakistani state broadcaster apologises for error during PM Khan's Beijing speech
The misspelled word appeared in the top left corner of the screen, where the channel meant to show where Khan was. During the speech, PTV had written "begging" on screen instead of "Beijing" by mistake.

Amazon has reportedly narrowed down the list of locations for its second headquarters. Chicago isn't now negotiating, sources tell the Journal, although the paper notes that doesn't necessarily count the city out.

The Journal reported that the surprise decision is "driven by the need to recruit enough tech talent and to support Amazon's growth". The Wall Street Journal wrote over the weekend that the company was carrying out advanced talks with Dallas and New York City, in addition to Crystal City.

Mayor Hogsett says he expects Amazon's decision soon after the midterm elections Tuesday so that the five billion dollar bombshell doesn't change any political races for the victor or the loser locations.
