Warner Bros has released the first full-length trailer for the live-action Pokémon Detective Pikachu movie, which really truly does exist. That's not all; we've also now gotten a look at the Detective Pikachu movie poster, and just like the trailer, it's filled with a ton of references to and Pokemon from the series.

With Ryan Reynolds starring as Pikachu, Justice Smith playing Tim Goodman, and other stars such as Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe joining the cast too, this strikes us as having a great deal of potential. He teams up with the fuzzy yellow Pokemon, a "hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth", for the investigation.

Social media users have been on a tear since the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu trailer dropped, resulting in thousands upon thousands of tweeted reactions ranging between various stages of disbelief, excitement, denial, and pure, unadulterated joy.

Macron Delivers Rebuke to Nationalism as Trump Looks On
A handful of senior administration officials, including White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, went in the president's place. Putin also praised the idea of a European army because he said it could "strengthen the multipolar nature of the world".

Reynolds commented on the surprise release on Twitter, saying, "I think we all knew I'd wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words".

The approach appears to appeal to an older audience, with a gritty look and more adult humour thrown into the mix, such as Pikachu saying the problem is that he pushes people away then "hates them for leaving" during an interrogation with the Pokemon Mr. Mime. Pokemon fans will be able to spot a laundry list of the famous monsters in the footage. And before you ask, yes, this is real movie that will actually play in theaters on May 10th, 2019.
