Sarfraz Ahmed slams Ross Taylor for disgraceful throwing gesture

"We've been keeping a close eye on Will and like the look of his all-round game and skillset

Hafeez finished with 0-23 from his six overs, while Taylor top-scored for the Black Caps with 80, before a hat-trick from Trent Boult led the visitors to victory.

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed criticised New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor for seemingly raising objections to spinner Mohammad Hafeez's bowling action. "I will say that Ross Taylor's action was not correct", he said.

Abu Dhabi: Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has slammed New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor for making a "disgraceful" throwing gesture when facing the bowling of veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez during the one-day worldwide in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. "Not too many occasions I've been on a hat-trick in a one-day match".

It looked all over when legspinner Ish Sodhi snared Shadab Khan caught behind to a poor call from umpire Joel Wilson.

Sodhi (1-54 off nine) was increasingly under pressure and momentum turned as Sarfraz and Imad Wasim rebuilt the chase.

Williamson praised Pakistan as a limited over side.

The homeside was 8-3 and then 85-6 before fighting back, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed leading the way with a 69-ball 64 before he was bowled by Colin de Grandholme at the end of the 41st over.

Taylor seemed to make a "chucking" gesture to the umpires during Hafeez's first over, mimicking a bent arm - an accusation that caused Sarfraz to have heated discussions with both Taylor and the umpires. "Hafeez's action has no problem and he was trying to create an issue without a reason".

Hafeez has been banned from bowling four times in his career by the ICC for going beyond the permitted flex of 15 degrees - the most recent being in October a year ago before he returned in April having remodelled his action.

Taylor (80 off 112 balls) and another recent arrival Tom Latham (68 off 64) anchored New Zealand's innings of 266-9 which stuttered late and almost saw another hat-trick. Meanwhile Latham played a brisk innings of 68 runs off 64 balls.

Shadab broke the century stand by having Latham and Henry Nicholls leg before wicket off consecutive balls and one ball later Colin de Grandhomme was caught in the slip.

The allrounder's reprieve didn't last long as he chased one floated up to Shadab and edged to first slip.

Game two is back at the same venue on Saturday (NZT).

However, once Pakistan skipper Sarfraz dragged a Colin de Grandhomme delivery onto his stumps New Zealand were nearly home and dry.
