Apart from that, iOS 12.1.1 also adds a couple of new functionalities for FaceTime. The new rollout includes improvements, and much awaited Haptic Touch for iPhone XR users since Apple had ditched the 3D feature, for cost-cutting and making it the cheaper entry-level iPhone of this year. The list of carriers supporting its new dual SIM eSIM feature for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR has been updated and AT&T is the first carrier in the United States to support it.

One of the more annoying aspects of iOS 12's FaceTime app was the relocation of the button to switch between the front and back cameras during a call. However, the 12.1.1 update fixes that and switching between the cameras is now comfortable with one-tap and users now can also capture Live Photos during the FaceTime call. Update or not, it's always a good idea to have your data backed up in some form.

Next, you'll need to download the update. It's as simple as connecting to WiFi, then going to Settings General Software Update. Just tap on Download and Install and you'll be up to speed in no time. While iOS 11 was plagued with any number of performance issues, Apple with iOS 12 chose to focus on system stability and reliability, a decision which has paid off swimmingly. First and foremost, the update isn't that big, which means that doing an over the air install is the right route to take.

To bridge the gap between haptic touch and 3D touch, Apple is enabling notification preview on the iPhone XR with the latest iOS 12.1.1 update which is rolling out now to all supported iOS devices.
