Australia lose four wickets, face defeat in record India run chase

Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been the main threat, targeting footmarks to trouble Australia's inexperienced batting order.

Langer conceded that Australia could've showed more aggression in how they played Ravi Ashwin, the Indian spin king who finished with three wickets and an economy rate of 1.5, but said their defensive approach - for the most part - was the right one.

The 35-year-old is also likely to draw confidence from negotiating Sunday's final session, plus last month's Sheffield Shield knock of 163 not out in Adelaide, where he helped Western Australia to overhaul a target of 313.

Australia's chase began in shaky fashion.

Australia desperately needed the experienced Usman Khawaja to stick around but he made a decision to run down the pitch to an Ashwin delivery on eight and sliced it to Rohit Sharma, who took a hard catch.

Peter Handscomb (14) combined with Marsh to temporarily blunt India before he lost patience, spooning a catch to midwicket off Shami. "We have got a massive sniff here in this Test", the spinner said.

"We spoke about Dubai".

"There's areas we can get better at, but I'm definitely not getting caught up in this "we're too slow, we're not attacking enough" business". "I think the pitch has quickened up". The wicket wasn't overly easy to score on, and I thought they set good fields.

British house price growth hits 6-year low
The UK housing sector remains one of the most affected by the Brexit uncertainties. "On the ground, lethargy is replacing energy". The figures show a marked slowdown from September and October, when growth stood at 2.5% and 1.5% respectively.

It was overturned when a review found Sharma had bowled a front-foot no ball, giving Finch a second life.

India had a first-innings lead of 15 runs after bowling out Australia for 235. Only 11 runs came off the first nine overs, four of which were through a leg-bye boundary. Half-century maker Ajinkya Rahane added just 13 in the second session, falling for 70.

Lyon was the key bowler for Australia, taking six wickets in his 42 overs, largely through peppering the rough patch just outside off stump and relying on balls popping up off the pads and big loose slogs to the outfield.

They were enhanced by first-inning centurion Cheteshwar Pujara, who top-scored again with 71 to make it 11 hours at the crease in the low-scoring contest.

India assistant coach Sanjay Bangar praised Pujara's efforts.

"It's nice to do a good job for the team", South Australia captain Head said, after scoring his second fifty in his third Test.

Australia's hopes of victory in the first Test are looking slim, still needing 219 runs to win with only six wickets in hand.
