Statewide phone network outages are also causing problems at Clark County's 911 service, Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency warned Thursday night, and the agency said callers with emergencies should instead dial 360-693-3111.

Ajit Pai, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, ordered on Friday an investigation into the outage.

Today (Dec. 27) at 3:32 p.m., CenturyLink tweeted: "The CenturyLink network is still experiencing a disruption affecting customer services".

Verizon said it had service interruptions in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and parts of Montana as a result of issues with CenturyLink.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the internet problems led to the temporary shutdown of phone services at the Idaho Department of Correction and the state's Department of Education. "We apologize for the disruption", the company wrote in a Facebook post.

Emergency 911 services in some U.S. states have gone down yesterday and today due to a massive outage reported at several CenturyLink data centers.

CNN has tried to reach CenturyLink for comment.
