The new-generation Jeep Wrangler will also make its way to India sometime next year.

The Jeep Wrangler got a full redesign for the 2018 model year, and this Euro NCAP test we have here is the first official independent safety testing we've seen for the new model. Despite it being a fresh entrant to markets around the world, 2018 Jeep Wrangler's performance at the crash test was poor. Amidst promising to be brand new in every sense, the Wrangler only offers driver set speed limiter, seatbelt reminder, driver airbag, passenger airbags, side chest and head airbags.

The Seat Ibiza was awarded five stars in July 2017, with Matthew Avery from Thatcham Research - the only United Kingdom firm that conducts Euro NCAP crash tests - labelling it "a new benchmark in safety for the supermini price point category".

It scored 50 percent for adult occupant safety, 69 percent for child occupant safety, 49 percent for vulnerable road user safety and 32 percent for its safety assistance equipment.

Commenting on the results, Michiel van Ratingen, General Secretary, Euro NCAP said, "It is truly disappointing to see a brand-new vehicle being put on sale in 2018 with no autonomous braking system and no lane assistance. There were a number of issues with the Wrangler in impact testing too, in terms of deformation of the footwell and damage to connecting structures, while the make-up of the dashboard was seen to present a risk to occupants". The auto goes through the usual frontal offset crash test as for the Indian cars but also has a side impact, a full frontal test and several pedestrian tests too. Euro NCAP's tests on the Hyundai Santa Fe highlighted an issue where the side curtain airbags of cars equipped with a panoramic roof could be torn during deployment.

"Despite the work done by manufacturers during the development of their vehicles, Euro NCAP still sees a lack of robustness in some basic areas of safety". The Panda, last tested in 2011, has now been comprehensively overtaken by rival superminis in the race for safety.

In the latest frontal crash testing, the best chest protection rating - for the front passenger in the offset test - was adequate, while the worst was a poor rating for the rear passenger in the full frontal impact test.

The test score, which came out overnight in Europe, showed that the left-hand-drive four-door Wrangler tested scored poorly in one of four categories it was marked under.
