Apple AirPower: Wireless charging mat may finally launch this year

Apple's Air Power may actually see the light of day after all

Apple's Air Power may actually see the light of day after all

MacRumors has reported that Apple will launch its AirPower wireless charging mat soon. Flash forward 16 months and AirPower is still nowhere to be seen.

This follows Apple previewing its charging mat in September 2017 - after which the company stated it would be released sometime in 2018. That did not happen due to technical hurdles in the development process. Delay in launch of AirPower has also pushed Apple to postpone the launch of optional wireless charging case for AirPods.

And that, of course, led everyone to question the product's future. Apple's AirPods, for example, shipped more than two months later than expected and, upon actually launching, were incredibly hard to find.

Debenhams chairman stands down after AGM vote
The board said it had "full confidence" in plans put in place by Mr Bucher and the management to reshape the business. The votes came after Debenhams turned down a 40 million-pound ($51.3 million) loan offer from Ashley.

ChargeLab's sources say that the AirPower is being made by Luxshare Precision, the same company that handles manufacturing duties for the AirPods and various USB-C cables on behalf of Apple.

The advanced charging pad was supposed to launch past year, but the complexity of the device halted the production and we really hope that Apple finally breaks the silence in the following days or weeks with an official announcement. More specifically, it seems devices will start rolling off the production line by January 21.

If the reports are to be believed, the official release of the AirPower should not be too far away. It's not exactly clear how much the product will cost.
