Chicago Bulls sign coach Jim Boylen contract extension through 2020

Boylen's players contacted the NBA Players Association less than a week into his tenure because they felt he was being too tough with over-the-top workouts.

The Bulls have gone 5-13 under Boylen since Hoiberg was sacked December 3rd. That's when details of Jim Boylen's restructured deal surfaced, as first reported by Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times and soon followed by our Shams Charania. Boylen was slated to make just over $800,000 for the rest of this season. He already was guaranteed the almost $1 million in his previous contract as associate head coach.

Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova advance in straight sets at Australian Open
Sharapova said she was still feeling pain in her right shoulder despite sitting out the end of last season after the U.S. Defending champions Caroline Wozniacki and Roger Federer were scheduled to play night matches later Monday.

A gesture that the front office appreciated since they would be paying the remainder of Hoiberg's $5 million through 2018-19, as well as another $5 million they owed Hoiberg for next season.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski, Boylen has $1M guaranteed of a $1.6M salary for the 2019-20 season. The team's drama has cooled off lately, but the Bulls have lost six straight, including a 146-109 drubbing at Golden State on Friday.
