The Bible-based fast is inspired by Old Testament prophet Daniel, and restricts participants to unleavened breads, fruits, and vegetables.

Refined and processed foods, leavening agents, sweeteners, alcohol, tea, coffee and fizzy drinks are excluded. It's 21 days of prayer and fasting.

Chris Pratt is kicking off the new year with a diet that also brings him closer to his faith. We're not sure whether this means he's shacking up with new partner Katherine Schwarzenegger, who he has inexplicably made a decision to call "chief", but he's definitely packing up to go somewhere.

Practitioners are limited to eating foods only "grown from the seed" during the fast, with a meal list "similar to a vegan diet", according to the fast's website.

The actor recently opened up about how he was struggling to stay fit during the holidays. "And I know it's winter and it's holiday season. And I don't want to, but I'm going to do it, I'm going to start it today".

The fast also offers online support, a book and workbook combination, and recipes to follow during the 21-day period.

"So I'm doing this intermittent fasting thing; don't eat till noon, try to get my cardio in in the morning. It's super exciting actor stuff", Pratt said on his Instagram Story on December 10. "Look it up! Check it out!"
