Since then, Kubiak has worked as a senior personnel adviser for the Broncos.

Defense Department officials discussed the plan with Trump Thursday as he traveled to the southern border. He claimed his lawyers told him the action would withstand legal scrutiny "100 percent".

Denver plans to speak with Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak but he is not an offensive coordinator candidate, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis.

The rumors for days, ever since word got out that Fangio accepted Denver's offer to become coach, was that he would run the defense and Kubiak would run the offense, be it as coordinator or some other assistant title. Munchak finished as the runner-up to Fangio for the head-coaching job.

Kubiak was 21-11 in two seasons as the Broncos' head coach and is considered one of the top offensive minds in the game, but after the 2016 National Football League season that ended with Denver's Super Bowl 50 victory he stepped down due to health concerns. It is unclear whether Kubiak will remain in the organization in a front-office role, where he has spent the previous two seasons after stepping down as coach due to health reasons.
