Kohli's team showed enormous grit throughout the series and as the captain had alluded to before traveling to Australia, his side won the crucial moments in the series.

Pujara was named man of the series, with his first innings centuries in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney putting India in a commanding position in each of the three matches.

"India played the opposition they were presented with and it's a great achievement for them". "As a team, we focussed on the things that we didn't do well and sometimes those things don't sound too good but you need to accept a lot of things if you want to improve as a team".

"So we learned a heck of a lot in South Africa, we learned a lot in England".

"We just worked on rectifying the mistakes".

India lost 2-1 in Tests to South Africa in January past year, and were then outplayed in England 4-1.

Australia's performance was partly attributed to the absence of batting mainstays David Warner and Steve Smith, who are serving one-year bans for ball-tampering, but Gavaskar rejected the assertion. Not when the job of picking this team is one of the most scrutinised in the country.

Is Virat Kohli the greatest India Test captain? Guys like Border and Mark Taylor, what they are that this is the best bowling and fielding side in the history of the game. While skipper Kohli hit the best hundred of the series in terms of sheer class on a hard Perth Stadium track, the unflappable Cheteshwar Pujara (521) and the unconventional Jasprit Bumrah (21 wickets) were the heroes of the memorable "first". The culture we've been able to build over the last 12 months.

"The fact that the reward has come in the most historic series for Indian cricket is the cherry on top of the cake". He was consistent throughout the series scoring three centuries and one half-century. "We could have bowled out England much more cheaply, we didn't do it". "We've got what we've got and our playing group are working as hard as we can".

Kiku Sharda, Sumona Chakravarti, Chandan Prabhakar are a part of the second season, as is former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. Not just that, apparently Bharti Singh and Krushna Abhishek also get somewhere between Rs 10- 12 lakh per weekend episode.

"And that's the determination, that's the ruthlessness, that's the mindset with which this team went to play in this series". This is only the 2nd time that India managed to win at least 2 matches in a series Down Under.

Australia finished this series without a single hundred in four Tests.

"From where I see it, this is our vision for Indian cricket".

Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain to win a Test series in Australia after the fourth Test in Sydney was drawn due to rain on Monday. These are both headlines which will resonate for years to come.

Chaudhary - whose upper body and face is painted with the Indian tricolours of saffron, white and green and the name of his patron and favourite player, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar - embodies the passion of the supporters.

If this victory is put into perspective with some of Indian cricket's famous away series wins, it will be right up there both in terms of novelty as well as quality.

Australia went into the final day of the series with little hope of achieving the victory they needed to win the Test and draw the series.

"Our plan is to celebrate with the team".

India travel to the West Indies later this year but it's missions in New Zealand next year and back in Australia in two seasons time which will show whether this success was a one-off or a sign of things to come. We backed them even if they were failing at times. So yeah Sydney, watch out for Indian fans!
