Kansas ranks 5th in nation for people moving from state

The suburban St. Louis-based moving company on Wednesday released its 42nd annual National Movers Study, which tracks customers' state-to-state migration patterns.

On the flip side, more people moved to Vermont than any other state, with a rate of 72.6 percent for inbound migration, the study showed.

Four Western states filled out the top 5 "moved to" list - Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona.

"The Northeast region continues to see more residents leaving than moving in, with 57 percent of all moves within the Northeast US being outbound moves", the company said.

More people moved out of the Garden State in 2018 than any other state, according to a new study by United Van Lines - though NY wasn't far behind. In tune with this trend, Arizona (60.2 percent) joined the list of Top Ten inbound states in 2018.

Emery pushing to complete deal to sign Keylor Navas
The unwanted defensive record has reportedly forced Emery into making bids for some wonderful defenders, including a goalkeeper. The club spent £19.6m on German Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and he had to bide his time to get the nod over Cech.

Among the reasons people are moving to OR, the company broke out "family" and "lifestye" as reasons for the state's popularity.

In New Jersey, a majority (85.7 percent) of those leaving cited job opportunities elsewhere. As in United Van Lines report, it found that IL (61 percent), NY (61 percent), CT (60 percent) and New Jersey (57 percent) all placed in the top 10 with respect to the share of outbound moves.

In addition to the study, United Van Lines also conducts a survey to find out more about the reasons behind these moves.

The United Van Lines survey, which is based on household moves handled by the company in the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C., adds to a growing body of data showing stagnant or declining population in northern population centers in favor of the Sun Belt and Intermountain West. Of the new residents, 34.38 percent said they moved due to their job and another 31.25 percent said they planned to retire there. Other Midwestern states in the top 10 for outbound migration were Kansas (58.7 percent), OH (56.5 percent), Iowa (55.5 percent) and MI (55 percent).

Other reasons for the high percentage of moves to the Mountain West in 2018 include retirement (28.1 percent), proximity to family (20.8 percent) and lifestyle change (19.4 percent).
