Report Quarterback Austin Kendall Considers Transferring From OU

According to a report by the Tulsa World, OU quarterback Austin Kendall is entering the transfer portal in order to explore options with other teams.

Of the quarterbacks now on the roster, Kendall figures to be in best position to earn the starting job at the outset of next season, but the Sooners could also elect to bring in a transfer to bridge the gap between Murray and five-star prospect Spencer Rattler.

Why would Kendall - seemingly in line to be the Sooners' QB1 this spring - leave a program that just produced consecutive Heisman-winning quarterbacks? The university may also be looking to recruit another transfer quarterback. With Murray expected to declare for the NFL Draft or play professional baseball, Kendall is seen as the potential favorite to start at quarterback for Oklahoma in 2019.

Kendall played backup to Heisman Trophy victor Baker Mayfield during his true freshman year before sitting out a redshirt season.

He completed 71 percent of his passes in 2018 for 122 yards and a touchdown in the 2018 season.
