Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that Israel has collaborated with Egypt in its Sinai operations, stressing that relations between the two countries have strengthened during his term in office. Egypt has been battling an insurgency in the northern Sinai Peninsula for years.

Interviewed by anchorman Scott Pelley, Sisi denied having political prisoners and "prisoners of opinion" in prison.

CBS said on Thursday that it had rejected Egypt's demands and will air the interview on 6 January. Unlike many other news organizations, we have not put up a paywall.

What did the president say?

Another 120 people died at Ramses Square two days later.

Al-Sisi since 2014 at the top of the country. "We tried every peaceful means to disburse them", he said, claiming more than a dozen guns were found at the protest camp. Pelley pressed, citing Human Rights Watch figures reporting that 60,000 political prisoners were now being held in Egypt.El-Sisi responded again, without emotion, denying the figure and saying he had no idea where the number was coming from.Reps for el-Sisi at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap about the "60 Minutes" claim.

"I don't know where they got that figure".

Ephraim then took action and forced the man outside where the perpetrator unwisely attempted to attack the instructor. He added, "I asked how I could assist him and he stated that he was there for the lady".

During the meeting, Sisi said that the economic reform program helps promote confidence in the Egyptian economy's performance and ability to attract investments in a way that increases productivity rates and improves competitiveness, Rady added in the statement.

"We are trying to stand against extremists who want to impose their ideology on the people".

Asked whether cooperation between the countries could be described as the "closest ever", Sisi said: "That is correct..." "That is correct... We have a wide range of cooperation with the Israelis", he told the USA news outlet when asked if the military coordination between the countries was closer than it had ever been. But the network refused and plans to broadcast the interview on Sunday night.

Egypt was concluded in 1979 as the first Arab state to sign a peace Treaty with Israel. In February of 2018, the New York Times reported Israel was engaged in a full-blown aerial campaign against Islamic State targets in the Sinai, carried out covertly with Sisi's blessing.

The North of the Sinai Peninsula is a stronghold of radical forces.

When asked about Mr Sisi's interview with CBS on Friday, an Israeli military spokesperson told the BBC: "We do not comment on foreign reports".
