20th Century Fox has released a cool behind the scenes video about the techniques that were used on the set to capture star Rosa Salazar's performance in Alita, and the video is much more detailed than the typical fluff featurettes that tend to accompany studio releases like this. Check it out in the player below!

Battle Angel Alita, also known as Gunnm in Japan, is set in a futuristic dystopia in which Alita, a cyborg who has lost all memories, is found in a garbage heap by a cybernetics doctor named Daisuke Ido who rebuilds and takes care of her.

"Alita: Battle Angel tells a powerful story of hope and empowerment, and we're eager for fans to join Alita in a breathtaking gaming experience that expands the world of the film and brings its unique characters, fast-paced action and compelling visual style to mobile devices everywhere", said Kathy Franklin, President - Franchise Development at Lightstorm Entertainment. As she learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield Alita from her mysterious past while her street-smart new friend, Hugo (Keean Johnson), offers instead to help trigger her memories. A growing affection develops between the two until deadly forces come after Alita and threaten her newfound relationships. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she's grown to love.

Rodriguez said Cameron, who first wrote a script in 2004, had crafted "a story that could really play around the world, even to people who don't know manga".

Some 15 years in the making and after multiple delays, sci-fi epic "Alita: Battle Angel" finally arrived on Thursday, but the Japanese manga-inspired action film earned only lukewarm reviews.

IMAX has revealed exclusive artwork for ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL highlighting how visually magnificent and multifaceted the film will be in immersive IMAX cinemas!
