Apple is expected to release three new iPhones in 2019, two of which will feature OLED displays. Furthermore, these phones will pack the same 5W USB-A chargers in the box, which means you'll still have to purchase other chargers to take advantage of the iPhone's fast charging battery tech.

When Apple switched from Lightning to USB-C for the new iPad Pro, it seemed like the company was acknowledging that USB-C is the future of charging.

About a month ago, a rumor said that Apple might do the unthinkable with the iPhone 11 by replacing the Lightning port with a USB-C port, just like it did with the iPad Pro previous year and just like the ports found on all of Apple's MacBook laptops these days.

Macotakara claims that the reason behind Apple's insistence on keeping the Lightning cable is simple: money. But recently, rumors of 2019 iPhones complete with USB-C ports have begun swirling around.

As things stand, Apple benefits from large economies of scale due to the fact that Lightning-related accessories for newer devices are valid for previous-generation models.

Instead, users will continue to be forced to shell out the extra cash for a cable peripheral that will allow them to plug their iPhone into their MacBook.

This latest news on Apple passing on USB-C for the iPhone is in contrast with an from last summer when supply-side sources were claiming the USB-C ports were on the way for Apple's 2019 iPhone offering.

Apple's iPhone series has stayed loyal to the Lightning connector ever since it was first introduced in 2012.
