Australia into Davis Cup finals in Madrid

On Friday's opening day, John Millman and Alex de Minaur gave Australia its 2-0 lead.

Australia's No.1 Alex De Minaur will face off against Mirza Basic in the second singles match.

The Australians have railed against changes to the cup format - the scrapping of home-and-away ties, and reducing matches to best-of-three sets over two days instead of the traditional five-setters over three days.

Nissan scraps new SUV launch for Sunderland plant
Nissan said back in 2016 that the X-Trail SUV auto would be produced on Wearside after receiving assurances from the Government. He said: "Twenty years ago we had these awful , blood-curdling threats about Nissan in Sunderland if we didn't join the Euro".

Hewitt's decision to leave out Nick Kyrgios was vindicated, as Millman also claimed his maiden point after making his debut in the 2017 semi-final loss to Belgium. Ranked No.36 on the ATP Charts, he is set to play Bosnia's top player and world No.52 Damir Dzumhur in the Opening Tie.

Elsewhere, Taro Daniel drew Japan level at 1-1 with China in Guangzhou by beating Zhang Ze, after Yoshihito Nishioka's shock loss to Li Zhe, while Andreas Seppi helped Italy move 2-0 in front against India.

Australia's Alex de Minaur next meets Mirza Basic ahead of a doubles rubber and reverse singles on Saturday. The victors join six automatic qualifiers at the cup finals in Madrid in late November.
