Naff Daft Punk wannabe and multi-award-winning electronic musician Deadmau5 has been been banned by streaming site Twitch for using a homophobic slur during a public livestream.

The outburst resulted in the internationally recognized DJ being banned from Twitch.

For the uninitiated, "stream sniping" involves players finding and exploiting streaming players' location on the game map by watching their stream on a second screen or device.

Following the airing of the clips, Deadmau5 was suspended for the homophobic slur.

Twitch suspended Zimmerman's channel after news of his discretion spread, according to Kotaku.

In a Reddit post about the incident, Zimmerman stated: "While it was meant to insult a fuckin asshat who was being a fucking asshat, it wasn't "directed at an entire group of people who have a sexual orientation that differs from my own".

Deadmau5 continued to defend his intent in replies to users, stressing that his remark wasn't indicative of his views.

He added, "Of course there's a huge line between being tilted as fuck over a video game and saying some shit vs. mobilising a fucking belief standard with what ACTUALLY is hate speech". The middle-aged man took to Reddit to complain about what he considers to be Twitch's "double standard when it comes to censoring and suspending me for harmless shit", and announced that he would no longer partner with the company. If you'd like to read the now-deleted Reddit post by Deadmau5, who was born a few months before the very first Space Shuttle mission, you can find a screencap in this tweet from Rod "Slasher" Breslau. The producer apologized a year ago after making supposed homophobic and transphobic tweets.

Deadmau5 previously came under fire for his use of offensive language, having called a track by DJ Slushii "fucking seriously autistic shit" during a stream.

His social media has since been handled by his management. Deadmau5 has been active on Reddit over the last month, posting on the site about the construction of Cube 3.0 and his McLaren Senna sports auto.
