David de Gea could reportedly soon become the best-paid player in the Premier League as the Spain global prepares to sign a new long-term contract with Manchester United.

The Spaniard is out of contract next year at the club and has been non-committal about his future beyond then.

De Gea's initial deal saw his time end this summer though his one year extension clause is said to have been triggered.

Reports that De Gea is demanding £350,000 per week to stay, only to be rebuffed, have raised eyebrows at Old Trafford given United would be likely to accept a wage at around that mark in recognition of the goalkeeper's importance on the pitch.

It did not explain how several members previously were able to travel to meetings in the United Arab Emirates and Moscow. Ahmadi also said such a move also gave "recognition" to the Taliban.

There were concerns over De Gea in the early stages of his Premier League career, but the Madrid-born stopper has since developed into one of the world's best in his position.

De Gea's current deal expires in 2020 and the club's executives are desperate to keep hold of the Spanish shot-stopper who has been United's best player for the last few seasons.

Edwin van der Sar and Paul Mitchell are in the running for that role, while interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is receiving growing praise for his job as interim boss.
